Voices for Change

Check out RollingStone.com: News - Voices for Change. Before you say anything, I know- a finer collection of political minds could not have been assembled in this lifetime...

Of interest to me is what Dave Matthews (for those of you who don't know, he's the guy whose tour bus dumped all its sewer into the Chicago River while stopped on a bridge, drenching tourists passing by underneath on a boat*) had to say:

We've got to get somebody new in the White House. Being from South Africa, I know how much the rest of the world fears the United States right now. It's like if the world is a room, and everybody is in there, and suddenly somebody walks in who is seething and has headphones on, and the music is playing really loud, and he's armed. That's the way the world sees us. Everyone is on tiptoes, afraid of what this country might do. It's bound to scare everybody.

Guess what, Dave? It's about time they fear us. The rest of the world has known all along that we have the best military toys on the planet, they just had no idea we would really use them. The war on terror is neither a Bush/Kerry issue, nor is it an American imperialism issue. This is radical Islam versus the infidels, and you guessed it, that includes you, me, and all religions and cultures that are not Islam. Want to help? Use your considerable talents and star-power to call for a reformation of Islam. When respected clerics finally call for change, it will happen.

Meanwhile, the world can be on its tiptoes. The six-hundred pound gorilla has been awakened, and everyone in the jungle had better realize that serious consequences will ensue.

*A testimony to his stewardship of the environment!
